PWC lights the way for Mayors Business Energy Challenge
Prolojik is the exclusive supplier of open source lighting controls to PwC’s More London building and are delighted that the energy savings the system produces has contributed to its BREEAM Outstanding status and caught the eye of the Mayor of London. Figures show that the energy saved by PwC through installing the Prolojik lighting controls and upgrading to LEDs is around 1/3 compared to manually controlled T5 lighting.
They also recently installed ProLojik's new LIGHTMATRIX Power Over Ethernet product in an area of the building, which produced an even greater saving of up to 46%
PwC has not just one, but two BREEAM Outstanding buildings in London. They were the first ever to achieve outstanding status with their new building in London Bridge, and the other, in Westminster achieved the highest ever score in this leading global environmental rating system. This is why last year the Mayor of London’s team approached PwC to demonstrate the part lighting controls can play in achieving environmental excellence for major buildings, as part of the Mayor’s Business Energy Challenge.
“As a global organisation we’re proud to lead by example and aren’t afraid to invest in technologies that will help our buildings remain highly sustainable,” said Jon Barnes, Head of Buildings and Services Management at PwC. “The system allows individual control of the lighting over each workstation via an online platform, and so our people can adjust the lighting for their own personal needs at their desk themselves. It’s proving highly successful and means that thousands of people in the office can play their part in minimising our carbon emissions.”
Another measure PWC takes to save energy is using unique trigenerators which power electricity, heating and cooling by recycling used cooking oil from within the M25. It’s really exciting and inspiring for us to work with such a global ambassador for green buildings which isn’t afraid to embrace new, leading edge methods for reducing its environmental impact.
