Hungry for Power
Power support company, Merlin Power Management, has enabled Randall Parker Foods, a leading
producer of quality meat products, to continue production after a major fire destroyed part of the factory at the company’s site in Andover, Hampshire.
Determined that its customers would not be affected by the disaster, Randall Parker Foods looked for ways of getting its business up and running again as quickly as possible. The solution came through Merlin Power Management, which was able to provide the company with standby power within a matter of
hours, enabling Randall Parker Foods to be back in full production within two working days.
“Merlin Power Management’s service has been first class”, said Mike Gould, Maintenance Manager at Randall Parker Foods in Andover. “We contacted our electrical contractors, Hayward & Spanswick, they in turn called in Merlin mid-morning. The generators were quickly in place and we had power the same day”.
Merlin has supplied Randall Parker Foods with three generators ranging from 50kVA to 500kVA as well as remote bulk fuel tanks, distribution boards, changeover panels and cabling sets. The generators are running as prime power units and providing power to the whole manufacturing process. Two generators
are supplying the factory with prime power and are configured in a Prime/Standby mode. If one of the
generators develops a fault or runs out of fuel, the standby set will automatically step in to take over the load. A third set is installed separately and provides power to various essential loads within the factory.
Merlin also undertakes regular servicing, fuel deliveries and fuel management as part o the contract. The generators are co-ordinated from the Rental Dept at Merlin Power Management’s HQ in Andover, Hampshire. In addition to its Rental division, Merlin Power Management offers a full range of services that include service and maintenance of generators and UPS, rental of generators, refuelling, installation/commissioning and project management.
The company also provides load bank testing, power analysis and consultancy, fuel management/tank
bunding as well as routine and emergency maintenance of L.V. switchgear and Air Circuit Breakers.
