MMG MagDev F49 ferrite cores
Ferrite cores made from a new MagDev material are some 20% smaller than those made from current standard low loss materials, reducing size and enhancing performance in saturation-limited applications such as DC-DC converters and inverters for grid-connected micro-generation systems.
MagDev’s new high saturation F49 ferrite material stores up to 20% more energy in the same volume as standard low loss ferrites like MMG’s F48. Designers can achieve 20% greater performance from a core of the same size, or a 20% reduction in core size without degrading performance. The material is designed and optimised specifically for saturation limited applications, such as DC chokes for switched mode power supplies, power factor correction chokes, miniature inductors for point of load and inductors for voltage regulator modules. AC chokes in grid-connected domestic solar systems and from other renewable sources are other potentially interesting applications for F49.
