Flir i50 Infrared Camera

More and more people are switching on to infrared for inspection and it’s easy to see why. A thermal imaging camera allows problems to be seen that are invisible to the naked eye resulting in quicker and more efficient fault finding. Global market leader, FLIR Systems, has been a major contributor to this take-up by developing affordable infrared products that have the right balance of functionality and cost. And now with the introduction of its new FLIR i50 the entry level choice has never been more comprehensive.

FLIR Systems now offers an unmatched range of troubleshooting infrared cameras providing different grades of functionality and an effective upgrade path for newcomers to the technology. The new FLIR i50 slots into the range above the lowest priced and pocket sized FLIR i5 and its higher performance counterpart, the InfraCAM® SD. This camera is designed for those needing higher resolution and more features and for whom documentation of findings is important. It too is characterised by its ease of use, portability and excellent feature to price ratio.

The FLIR i50 is a powerful tool with a choice of display measurement modes. It has a 140 x 140 resolution with 25 x 25 field of view and 100mK NETD. Accuracy is ±2% and thermal sensitivity better than 0.1°C. This model is also the first of the troubleshooting cameras to incorporate a 2.3mpixel visual camera. For ease of transfer and compatibility it stores up to 1000 standard jpeg images onto its micro SD card. What really sets it apart from the competition however is its size and weight, just 600g.

Other features rolled down to this new model are Picture in Picture that enables the operator to see an infrared image super-imposed on a visual image. It also includes built-in laser pointer and LED illumination for inspection in low light areas. A long life battery provides for up to 5 hours of continuous operation.

In common with the entire range the new FLIR i50 is IP54 rated making it suitable for use in harsh industrial environments. It also benefits from all of its critical elements being designed and manufactured in-house by FLIR Systems. These include the detector, lens and laser systems as well as dedicated electronics and software. This degree of vertical integration remains unique in the industry and one that ensures the production of high quality and reliable products.
