ACT Meters Ltd, VERIFIER Cable Tester

Ever considered using your ears to find faults? Perhaps not. But imagine a tool that allowed you to ‘listen out’ for and trace hidden cables, check resistance and locate circuit faults first time? It would save the hassle of taking up carpet, lifting floorboards, knocking into walls and free up your hands to help you get the job done quicker.

VERIFIER from ACT Meters Ltd is such as product.

This ingenious new tool is essential for anyone who deals with cable management and troubleshooting. It combines an audible cable tracer, resistance tester and fault locator in one easy to operate unit.

MD David Grant says: “Once connected to the circuit, VERIFIER passes an audible tone through the circuit under test. This tone is picked up by the supplied inductive amplifier which enables the engineer to listen out for, find and follow hidden cables quickly and easily.

“Also, the tone generated by VERIFIER varies in pitch according to the resistance of the circuit. As the resistance increases, so does the tone. There is even an ‘open circuit’ tone for locating circuit breaks. This makes audible testing and identifying resistance faults on ‘normally closed’ and ‘end-of-line’ resistance circuit extremely easy.”

VERIFIER enables all manner of devices including magnetic contacts, motion and shock detectors to be audibly tested for normal resistance changes and resistance faults. Damaged cables, joint boxes and tamper switches can also be tap-tested to audibly identify changing or intermittent resistance faults.

VERIFIER is an ideal solution for verifying first-fix installations and take-overs, as well as commissioning,
maintaining and troubleshooting installations.
