Festival of Power

Temporary power provider – Power Logistics Ltd – has purchased eight new JCB generators to power some of the most prestigious events in the UK’s sporting and entertainment calendars.

The four JCB G380Q and four JCB G550Q models, which deliver 380kVA and 550 kVA respectively are powered by Scania engines with Newage Stamford alternators and are fitted with zinc-coated, sound-attenuated canopies. Already this summer they been responsible for bringing electricity to Silverstone, Epsom Racecourse and a Bon Jovi concert.

Their latest high profile roles came at the Big Chill and V Festivals. The Big Chill featured music and comedy artists including: Leonard Cohen and the Mighty Boosh while acts such as Amy Winehouse, The Kooks, Kaiser Chiefs and The Feeling took to the V Festival stage.

All eight of the new generators were in action at the festivals, providing lighting, video and PA system services during the different acts, as part of Power Logistics’ role of delivering power flow across the sites.

Mike Whitehouse, Power Logistics Sales Manager, said: “We have selected JCB for our latest batch of high capacity generators based on several key criteria. As part of our significant expansion plans, we are looking to extend our services internationally and the recognition of the JCB brand worldwide will help us break into
new markets. The combination of our logistical experience and JCB’s manufacturing expertise and worldwide network gives a unique package and competitive edge.

“For major projects such as V and The Big Chill, our generator sets are synchronised to ensure against power failure. This means that, in the unlikely event of a generator failing, the other takes the full load - ensuring a constant power supply and peace of mind for the event organisers. One of the major attractions of the JCB product is their effective performance in this type of load sharing configuration.

“We have been extremely impressed with the models which offer great benefits for our line of work. The build quality is excellent, the components are of the highest standard and, being able to operate on bio-fuel, we can offer our customers an eco-friendly solution. Visually they look great – which is also a key consideration now at live and televised events.

“Finally, the service we have received from JCB and our dealer Holt JCB, has been first class at every stage of the process - from specification to after sales support. They are knowledgeable, offer a well designed and thought out product and the access to worldwide backup is unrivalled. We are looking forward to a long
and successful working partnership”
