Sylvania SYL:Fire New Additions

Sylvania’s range of SYL:Fire fire-rated downlights is set to include two important new additions – a leading-edge mains-voltage LED model and 10W compact fluorescent version, with dedicated pin base. The SYL:Fire range has been tested by the BRE and fully complies with Building Regulations Part B (fire safety), Part C (resistance to moisture ingress), Part E (acoustic rating) and Part L (air tightness).

SYL:Fire LED is a fire-rated downlight powered by 4x1W high output, multi-lens LEDs, which offers 20o adjustability. Suitable for hotel, leisure and residential installations, SYL:Fire LED’s total power consumption is a mere 6.5W, yet the LED array has the equivalent light intensity of a 50W halogen lamp. Its efficiency is greater than 50 lm/circuit Watt in the cool white version which meets the requirements of the UK Building Regulations Part L -- and its 50,000 hour life makes SYL:Fire LED a minimal maintenance ‘fit-and-forget’ solution.

The SYL:Fire L compact fluorescent pin-base model offers the same high compliance standards as the LED model, but features a 10W Lynx DE lamp in Colour 830 as standard, with a dedicated G24q1 lamp base. This base forms part of its compliance to Part L of the UK Buildings regulations. Syl:Fire L is fitted with an integral ballast within the lamp holder providing excellent efficiency with simple replacement. Targeting domestic installations, Syl:Fire L is manufactured to the same quality standards as is synonymous with this range.

All SYL:Fire product are fitted with the latest intumescent material technology, which is capable of expanding up to 15 times its original size when exposed to heat and pressure. In the event of a fire this will completely seal the fixture and the ceiling cut-out preventing smoke and flames from spreading, In addition, tough stainless steel springs, with silicone ceiling grips, guarantee that the fixture is held in place in the event of fire. The luminaire’s all-steel body provides maximum protection and reduces the need for a fire hood – and in addition to its durable, safe construction, the innovative easy-wire connector makes installation quick and easy for contractors.

All models are available with white, chrome or brushed steel finishes.
