N&E Appoints Olympic Head

As Britain prepares to host the world’s greatest sporting event, expected to be watched by more than four billion people worldwide, construction work has now begun on the 670 acre Olympic Park site, full infrastructure and vastly improved transport links planned to leave a lasting legacy for the five surrounding boroughs.

To assist its customers in the mammoth task that lies ahead, leading electrical wholesaler, Newey & Eyre has appointed Ian Sharman-Jones as Head of Business Development dedicated to the 2012 Olympics.

Having worked at Newey & Eyre for almost 15 years, Ian brings to the position a wealth of invaluable, expert knowledge of the electrical sector. He has occupied a number of senior positions within the company during this period, most recently as National Sales Manager and Area Director, playing an integral part in the ongoing development and success of the business.

In this newly-created role, Ian will be responsible for identifying, developing and managing all projects relating to the Olympic Games, as part of a strategic focus for Newey & Eyre. Operating as the first point of contact and ambassador for each project, Ian will lead all customer communications in order to formulate a strategy to help each project through the consultation process, supported up by Newey & Eyre’s dedicated senior management team and national network of branches.

This dedicated service is designed to provide a tailored solution for each customer, in order to maximise the efficiency of every project and ensure the provision of the right product, at the right price and at the right time.

Talking about his new position, Ian explains: “As we enter this exciting phase on the Olympic Park, several key electrical contractors are themselves vigorously competing to be involved in this prestigious project. Obviously, amid this turbulent economic climate, it is important for us to work very closely with both our manufacturer and contractor partners to deliver a competitive, high quality and environmentally sustainable service solution that adds real contractor value.

“To meet this requirement, we have created a dedicated business arm in order to work closely with these contractors and provide a bespoke service to reduce both down time and material costs. Through our longstanding relationships with key manufacturers and unrivalled access to thousands of quality and specialist products, we can deliver consistent pricing and service, representing great value for every project. I believe the opportunities for Newey & Eyre, in terms of acquiring new customers and generating sales are huge and I am relishing the challenge ahead.”
