New Head for Electrical Safety Council

Phil Buckle has been named as the new Director General of the Electrical Safety Council having responsibility for spearheading the development of the charity as the leading, impartial safety body in the UK for electrical and related safety issues.

Phil joined the charity as Director of Charitable Affairs, in January 2007, since which time the organisation has been prolific in its activities, which have ranged from raising awareness of Part P and campaigning for better enforcement, lobbying for the inclusion of electrical safety information in Home Information Packs and developing educational information for primary schools. The charity also hosted its first International Electrical Product Safety Conference in London last year.

Commenting on his new role, Phil said, “Ambitious plans have been set out for the Electrical Safety Council over the next few years and I look forward to leading the charity in developing new opportunities to extend the scope of its activities and strengthen its influence amongst consumers and industry.”

Chairman of the Electrical Safety Council, Bill Wright comments, “Phil’s achievements for the charity to date make him uniquely positioned to take up the leadership role and drive the Electrical Safety Council forward in pursuit of its charitable aims.”

Prior to joining the Electrical Safety Council, Phil was Marketing and Business Development Director at the NICEIC Group and previously Head of Technical Services at the Electrical Contractors Association.
