New President for Industry Charity

Ian Humphreys, Managing Director, BI Electrical Services (NI) Ltd, based in Newtownabbey has succeeded Jim Speirs, MSc FIQA, Executive Chairman, NICEIC Group Ltd (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting), as President of the industry’s charity, Electrical & Electronics Industries Benevolent Association (EEIBA).

Ian, who has been EEIBA Vice President since 2007, commenced his Presidency in June and runs his own successful Electrical Contracting Company having had many years experience in the industry.

During his career he has been an active member of the ECA (Electrical Contractors’ Association) having served as Chairman of the local Belfast Branch.

Ian commented, “this will be an extremely difficult year for the Charity both in terms of an increased number of Beneficiaries who will require help and the difficulty of obtaining increased funding due to the current economic climate’ he continued by paying tribute to his predecessor Jim Speirs, ‘I have worked closely with Jim over the past 18 months and in my opinion, he is the reason that the charity is in such good shape for whatever lies ahead in the coming years.”
