Ellis Patents, the world’s leading cable cleat manufacturer, has seen its export sales more than double during the first quarter of its 2009 / 2010 financial year.
During this time the North Yorkshire company won significant orders from customers in Kazakhstan, Australia, Germany, the United States, Sweden, Norway and Hong Kong. Amongst the projects was a nuclear power station in Scandinavia, the Kashagan oil Project in Kazakhstan and a high voltage cable tunnel in Sydney.
Export sales manager, Tony Conroy said: "While the success achieved during this quarter is well above the predicted level it is not wholly unexpected."
"In recent years we have transformed from being a UK manufacturer selling primarily into the domestic market, into a UK manufacturer with a global reputation. Add to this the introduction earlier this year of an international standard (IEC61914 – 2009) focussed specifically on the use of cable cleats in electrical installations and it stands to reason that the demand for our products would grow significantly."
Conroy went on to say: "The importance of cable cleats has long been underestimated, but the nature of our first quarter success does point to the beginning of a major shift in opinion. We feel this will result in cleats gaining their rightful prominence in the electrical installation industry and lead to a far greater emphasis being placed on specifying and installing only products that meet all of the necessary safety standards."
