FPA and FSA offer new qualification routes for the Fire Systems Sector

The Fire Protection Association (FPA) and the Fire and Security Association (FSA) are delighted to introduce two new qualification pathways for those working in the fire detection, alarms and emergency lighting sector.

FPA and FSA offer new qualification routes for the Fire Systems Sector

Since the launch of the jointly developed portfolio of training courses 12 months ago, both associations have been working closely to offer further qualification routes for those involved in the design, installation, commissioning and servicing of associated systems.

As a result, each of the courses has now been allocated a number of BTEC credits and depending on the number of credits accumulated students can now achieve a BTEC Award, Certificate or Diploma. Furthermore, working closely with Bucks New University, the training now offers a work-based Foundation Degree pathway for Fire Protection practitioners.

Howard Passey, FPA Education & Training Director states: "I am delighted that the FPA and FSA have been able to work together to increase the range of qualifications that our customers can now access. In the short space of 12 months we have seen over 250 delegates attend our new range of modular training courses and I’m sure these new qualification routes will prove to be even more popular for those looking to develop competencies in the field of fire alarm, detection and emergency lighting systems."

Stefan Hay, Head of the FSA said: "The progress that has been made as a result of the partnership we have with the FPA is phenomenal. We took decisive and prompt action to provide the fire systems sector with the qualification routes they have been demanding for many years and the high level of course delegates is an indication of the quality of this excellent training proposition, which we now hope to replicate in the security systems sector."
