Getting a warm feeling

Raychem electrical underfloor heating systems have been installed to heat a spectacular extension to a beautiful residential property in Suffolk. The large extension has added a garden room with glazed frontage, a gym and shower facility to the property.

Getting a warm feeling

For these, the owner sought a first-class heating solution under tiled floors and an electrical contractor with proven expertise in installing to best practice. Spectrum Electrical at Sudbury was able to meet both criteria and as a Raychem CertifiedPRO installer its principal was authorised to provide the customer with the manufacturer’s extended 20 year Total Care Warranty.

With the garden room having a large glazed frontage, Raychem T2Red+Reflecta underfloor heating system was chosen to heat this area as T2Red self-regulating heating cables automatically reduce their output where solar gains are present. Installed within pre-grooved, thermally insulated and aluminium covered Reflecta plates for optimum heat distribution, this is the most energy-efficient electric floor heating system on the market and can be assembled to fit all room sizes.

For the gym and shower facilities Spectrum installed Raychem ultra-thin pre-formatted QuickNet power mats and for a faster heat-up the customer opted for the higher 160Wm2 output rather than the standard 90Wm2. Both systems were supplied through the Sudbury branch of Edmundson Electrical.

Spectrum owner Dennis Wilson commented: "It is certainly an advantage to be able to show customers our Raychem CertifiedPRO installer accreditation. This provides an assurance that they will be entrusting the installation and commissioning of their electric floor heating to a contractor who has successfully completed a rigorous training course on the quality Raychem systems and is authorised to offer the manufacturer’s extended 20 year total care warranty".
