It’s all about drives at the Vacon golf day!
The weather may have been dull, but that hampered neither the enthusiasm nor the performance of the participants at the annual golf day organised by Vacon, a world leader in AC drive technology, at Lutterworth Golf Club. A total of 30 competitors, among whom were Vacon technical partners, customers and staff members, battled through the day for the honour of winning the eighteen-hole Stableford Competition.
This year’s victor in the hard fought contest was Karl Jones, a director of Digicon Solutions, one of Vacon’s Technical Partners. Although no one disputed the consummate skill that Karl displayed throughout the competition, a few dark mutterings were heard about him having something of an advantage as he was playing on his home course!
Others who achieved glory on the day were Graham Henshaw of Southern & Redfern, who was runner up, and also won the prize for nearest the pin. This year, the prize for the longest drive went to Matti Vekkeli – Regional Manager EMEA of Vacon Plc and so we awarded him with a putter!! – but we were pleased that Matti could also make the day!

The Vacon Golf Day has proved to be a successful and popular event, and it is now firmly established as an annual fixture. All that the company wishes for future events is brighter weather and an even larger number of participants!
