We must still speculate to accumulate

In these difficult economic times it is important to make sensible cost-savings where possible. A press release which I received recently, demonstrated how this is possible, but emphasizes that to achieve some impressive cost-savings often does require some expenditure in the first instance, and that we should not be put off by this…it really is worth it!
An electrical and data networking contractor has revealed savings well in excess of £25,000 a year after introducing vehicle tracking to its fleet of just seven vehicles. This impressive figure follows its investment in technology from Navman Wireless, a provider of vehicle tracking, to help it to reduce costs and increase fleet efficiency by enabling it to monitor, in real-time, the position and activities of its mobile workforce.
Coventry-based J & B Electrical is a commercial and industrial cabling provider. The company’s operations director, Andrew Johnson said: "The system incorporates a timesheet reporting function, which has allowed us to minimise inaccurate overtime claims. Consequently, after installing the system, we immediately started saving £500 per week and within the first month of use, it had paid for itself."
"There are always occasions where clients will query the number of hours we bill them for, but with the visibility that vehicle tracking provides, we can now prove beyond doubt exactly where our engineers were, or are, at any one time," explained Andrew. "For the customer, this means we are able to tell them, on demand, exactly when a specific engineer will arrive on site - which is a real benefit in this industry.
With many nation-wide based clients, J&B Electrical Contractors have also made big fuel savings thanks to the technology’s enhanced routing features. "With engineers regularly in unfamiliar surroundings, having the ability to locate a particular destination and direct the closest engineer directly to it has greatly improved response times and considerably reduced dead-mileage – saving us a lot of time and fuel," said Andrew.
