Fire training scheme proves a hit with signpost services

Following the launch of the Aico Fire Products Trained Installer Scheme a year ago, Aico is delighted to proclaim its success, with numerous contractors and council and housing association staff attending. One of the largest of these has been Signpost Services, part of Spectrum Housing Group.

Fire training scheme proves a hit with signpost services

Signpost Services provides building maintenance services to social housing providers across the South West, including the Spectrum Housing Group. It has worked with Aico for eleven years, installing its mains powered smoke alarms into social housing. Charlie Way, electrical contracts manager at Signpost Services, commented on his product selection: "I've been using Aico for eleven years at this company as it's a very good make. I've experienced a lot of problems with other smoke alarms and have replaced them all with alarms from Aico."

Signpost Services was quick to see the benefits of the Aico Fire Products Trained Installer Scheme and has so far sent 40 electricians for training. They have benefited from instruction on: BS 5839: Pt.6: 2004 (the standard for domestic alarm installations), the types of smoke, heat and fire alarms for use in different applications and siting and installation guidance. "The training scheme is very good," stated Way, "and all the electricians that have attended appreciated it. They have all been given a book by Aico as well which they have found very useful."

This pocket sized book is the Electrical Contractors Handybook. The Handybook provides comprehensive information on Aico's full product range as well as sections on choosing, installing, testing and maintaining alarms. It features simple, clear diagrams for quick reference, checklists, do's and don'ts, frequently asked questions and revealing fire statistics.

The Aico Fire Products Trained Installer Scheme is open to electrical contractors across the UK and is dedicated to providing members with the information and training necessary to achieve a successful and effective alarm installation. For further information please contact Aico on 0870 758 4000.
