Showing a lightness of touch

When test and measurement instruments distributor, TTI commissioned Quattro Display to create a state-of-the-art new showroom.

Quattro turned to electrical wholesaler, Blue Dog Electric, to design a lighting system that would show products to their best advantage.

To realise the design, strip lighting needed to be sourced that would create a continuous line of light along the showroom’s central walkway. It seemed straightforward, but the samples provided by the company’s usual supplier needed a component to fit them together, which would cast unsightly shadows.  The design also included several lightboxes, which also needed to be lit by uninterrupted lines of light behind the screen and any shadows here would also spoil the effect that the client wanted to achieve.

After scouring suppliers for an alternative, Blue Dog contacted GreenBrook Electrical who demonstrated the company’s 3ft SLL 21 and 5ft SLL 35 cabinet lights.  Not only did these lights connect directly into each other to provide a shadow-free line of continuous light, they also proved to have several other advantages too.  The high frequency SLL 21 and SLL 35 lights avoid the initial flicker when the lights are switched on, a feature normally experienced with fluorescent tube lights. GreenBrook offered the T5 tube in three colour options – white, warm white and cool white – offering the client greater flexibility in the design.  The lights’ slimline design made them an ideal choice for a display application and because individual lights are linkable by simply pushing each fitting together they offered the client a reduced installation time – and cost.
