New service helps the lighting industry with WEEE compliance

The introduction of the Battery Regulations in the UK, and the updated WEEE Regulations, which came into force on 1st January, have prompted a joint approach from the The Lighting Association and WEEE Lite to offer a solution that is designed to help the lighting industry meet its environmental responsibilities.

New service helps the lighting industry with WEEE compliance

The resulting LA Compliance Scheme will offer a range of options not currently provided by the leading producer compliance schemes servicing the UK’s lighting industry. It aims to bring improved environmental sustainability, corporate social responsibility and cost effectiveness for producers, distributors, retailers, business end users and consumers. Members of the Lighting Association will benefit from discounts when joining the scheme.

The scheme will give delegates the opportunity to test out their own WEEE compliance strategy and to find out if the UK battery legislation will affect their business operations.

The official launch of the service will take place this week at The Lighting Show at the NEC in Birmingham.
