Firex- Now exclusively from world leader
The Firex range of hard-wired smoke and heat alarms for housing is now manufactured and supplied exclusively by Kidde, offering the added benefits brought by a global manufacturer with a strong engineering base and long heritage.
Firex has proved a popular range of cost-effective smoke and heat alarms in the UK with a loyal following. But Kidde’s acquisition of Firex has created a stronger range offer for residential safety products. Kidde Firex products are now offered alongside Kidde Slick® - its range of fast-fit, rechargeable smoke and heat alarms - and Kidde Fyrnetics carbon monoxide alarms. These products are UK focused and all are BS Kitemarked to demonstrate consistent quality.
The Kidde Firex range of optical and ionisation smoke, and heat alarms are now all interconnectable together and up to existing installations where the previous Kidde cable-harness range was fitted. This development follows extensive engineering tests. It is, however, essential to remember that only specified smoke and heat alarms from a single manufacturer should be interconnected: beware of claims that any products are compatible with other manufacturers’ alarms. The range offers a choice of sealed-in rechargeable lithium cells or loose battery backup.
Kidde Firex is exclusively a professional-install brand not seen in the retail channel. It is only sold through electrical wholesalers and enjoys a dedicated sales team and marketing support.
As part of the transition process, some overlapping products in Kidde’s two "cable harness" ranges will be phased out to reduce the number of lines that wholesalers need to stock.
Products are manufactured in Kidde’s ISO 9001 manufacturing facility that
produces over 30 million units annually for its global customer base. The factory operates a policy of continual improvement, in line with the ethos of UTC, Kidde’s parent company. This policy ensures that ‘best in field’ manufacturing processes and improved practices from throughout the UTC group can be applied to Kidde’s operation. Other UTC companies include Pratt & Whitney, Carrier, Chubb, Otis and Sikorsky.
