The new range of prefabricated connection boxes from Termate are designed to simplify the provision of permanent or temporary interconnections between high power electrical systems, and eliminates the inconvenience, delays and cost associated with fabricating ad-hoc connection arrangements on site.
Suited to use in applications such as linking switchboards or making connections to generator sets, the boxes are available in five versions with ratings up to 1,600A.
For currents up to 400A, the boxes use stud-type terminals that can accommodate cables of up to 240mm2 cross-section per phase. For higher currents - up to 1,000A - the boxes use 50 x 10mm copper interconnects, and are suitable for use with cables up to 400mm2. The largest boxes in the range - rated above 1,000A - are typically configured to order and can be arranged to suit connections of all types, including busbar trunking and solid copper.
Standard connection boxes are fabricated from mild steel with a powder-coated finish, and have an IP65 rating. Custom versions, in all ratings, are available to suit specific customer requirements, and can be supplied with stainless steel, ABS or GRP enclosures with ratings up to IP68, tested by immersion at depths of up to 2m.
