Siemens offers CPD accredited fire seminars

CPD accredited seminars, which have been formulated specifically to help consultants, specifiers and engineers in the construction and facilities management sectors keep up to date with the latest legislation and regulatory requirements relating to fire protection, are now being offered free of charge by Siemens Building Technologies Fire Safety.

The seminars will look in particular at the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (RRFSO), which is now the legal framework for fire protection in all non-domestic properties in the UK and which has tough penalties for non-compliance; the recently introduced Chief Fire Officers’ Association (CFOA) policy on false alarms, which has important implications for the level of response that the fire service provides to premises; and the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), the provisions of which must be taken into account in the design and operation of all fire protection systems.

Siemens experts presenting the seminars will not only discuss the requirements set out in the RRFSO, the CFOA policy and the DDA, but will also explain how these requirements can be implemented in practice. Among other topics they will cover is how the latest technologies, such as fire detectors with guaranteed immunity to false alarms, are making it easier to meet legislative and regulatory requirements.

The Siemens Fire Protection seminars are recognised by the Institute of Fire Engineers and the Institution of Engineering & Technology, and have a CPD accreditation value of two hours. They are normally held by arrangement at the consultant’s or specifier’s own premises and are best suited for groups of between 6 and 15 participants. For organisations that have more prospective participants, Siemens is happy to provide multiple sessions, and those that have fewer are invited to send delegates to the seminars that Siemens regularly holds at the world-renowned Fire Service College in Moreton in Marsh.
