A free lamp and CFL collection and recycling service

Recolight, a specialist WEEE compliance scheme for the recycling of Gas Discharge Lamps will be promoting its free lamp and CFL collection and recycling service, and new waste CFL container solutions at Electrex 2010 on stand E204.

The Recolight recycling scheme for lamps is funded by over 50 lamp producer members. It represents the overwhelming proportion of lamps put on the UK market. As a not for profit scheme dedicated to keeping waste lamps out of landfill, Recolight collects all lamps and can do so free of charge, providing there is a sufficient quantity. Between 2008 and 2009 Recolight funded the recycling of 50 million lamps, preventing nearly a fifth of a tonne of mercury from entering landfill.

Recolight actively re-invests in schemes to encourage lamp recycling amongst both businesses and consumers and is the only compliance scheme with a dedicated nationwide open collection point network, making lamp recycling as simple as possible.

Recolight also offers battery collections as part of its free recycling service in partnership with ERP (European Recycling Platform). By combining two waste streams we can use the same transport infrastructure for both schemes and further reduce the CO2, helping to make lamp recycling even more environmentally friendly.
