Steel pillars help provide power at university campus

Lewden Electrical Industries was the preferred supplier when a bespoke feeder pillar distribution cabinet was required for a project at the University of Hertfordshire.

The installation, carried out by

Lewden met with Neocrest and jointly assess and discuss the design requirements for the four new identical pillars. Subsequent drawing plans were provided by Lewden for the heavy duty galvanised steel cabinets, which enabled the project to gain the necessary approval and proceed quickly with manufacture.

The new pillars were also designed with consideration for possible future expansion, allowing the client the flexibility to accommodate further distribution equipment at a later date, quickly and easily, if required.

Commenting on the installation, John Sugden of Neocrest said: "Lewden was able to supply a custom designed product solution to meet both budget and project time constraints".

As the original cast iron feeder pillars housing the cables had corroded severely over a period of years, this had caused earth continuity problems within the original installation.
