Venture Lightens the Load
With lighting costs soaring for precision engineering company Brooks Ltd, making the switch to Venture Lighting Europe’s energy saving conversion kit has made considerable savings at the company’s manufacturing site in Audenshaw, Manchester.
The original lighting of 400W SON lamps in lowbay fittings provided poor lighting levels throughout the facility, but a change to Venture’s Uni-Form® Pulse Start Metal Halide lamps has significantly changed the overall illumination of the facility, as well as reducing the running costs.
Established in the UK in 1973, Brooks has an international reputation as a leading manufacturer and supplier of high-quality engineered products that include precision gears and conveyor chains. The 25,000m2 manufacturing site at Audenshaw opened in 1998 and contains production lines constantly working 7 days a week, meaning the overall running costs were at an all time high.
Brooks engineering manager, Patrick Whitham was initially approached by local electrical wholesaler Eyre and Elliston, who informed him of the latest technology in energy saving lighting and subsequently conducted a survey on the existing illumination. Following the survey which showed the actual annual cost savings that could be achieved, sample lamps were provided and were judged to be a great success. It was agreed that the whole manufacturing facility would be converted using Venture’s Uni-Form® Pulse Start 350W lamps, as part of a conversion system which also includes ignitor, ballast and capacitor.
With phase 1 of the conversion now complete, Patrick commented "Over half of the factory has already been converted and we are all reaping the rewards. The staff are much happier with the light levels and I am impressed that such a simple conversion can make such a significant cost saving without compromising on the light quality. We are now in the process of completing the second phase and having – excuse the pun - a "uniform" lighting system"!
