CNC modified enclosures make light work of built-in wiring system
On the back of large orders for building developments in Thailand and Dubai, Apex Wiring Solutions has won a contract a bit closer to home - London, where there are currently a number of large building projects that are running to a tight schedule. A good opportunity for Apex’s plug-in building wiring system and Spelsberg’s enclosure modification service.
In order to include intelligent wiring control elements in the system and connect them quickly, the company has turned to electrical enclosure supplier Spelsberg els UK. A quick CNC modification to the company’s tough TK range of electrical enclosures has ensured the AWS lighting control units can be fitted and stay protected, wired in the roof space, in double quick time thanks to bespoke cable entries and ideal box dimensions.
Mike Lewis, Director Apex Wiring Solutions, said: "When you purchase a PC you don’t expect to spend hours or even days hard wiring between the screen, server, printer and mouse. You simply plug together the equipment with cable assemblies designed for the job, knowing it is all compatible and that it will work. Our Modular Wiring System means that it is now possible to do the same thing when wiring a building. The AWS System replaces the traditional wiring of electrical sub-circuits, with a rapid and easily installed range of advanced prefabricated connector and cable assemblies, reducing installation time by up to 70%."
Lewis continues, "We were looking for a supplier that had a solution rather than just a product that was ‘close’ to what we needed. For us to pre-wire the system, we had to complete this item on-site and so we didn’t want to mess-about with cable glands, knock-outs or any box preparation, Spelsberg offered the perfect solution with the TK enclosure pre-drilled with the exact size and position of cable entries we needed."
Chris Lloyd at Spelsberg UK adds, "The TK range enclosures seal to IP66 and are available in a range of different dimensions, including super low profile units for use in control and instrumentation applications as well as general lighting systems. All models in the series accept DIN rails and mounts for PCB’s and are easily customised to fit a broad range of other components and cable entry requirements."
