Following a £15 million investment, Spiceball is one of the most up-to-date leisure centres in the country with facilities including two swimming pools - one 25m with an adjustable floor to accommodate different pool activities – an eight-court sports hall, an Expressions Fitness Suite and dance studios, health spa, sauna and steam rooms, interactive wet play area with fountains and shoots, soft play area, crèche, restaurant and meeting rooms. Spiceball is managed by Parkwood Leisure, on behalf of Cherwell Council, who specialise in the development and operation of leisure facilities on behalf of local authority and non-local authority clients.

The Delmatic system provides networked control throughout the centre and includes addressable switching as well as digital DALI dimming of lighting.  The system optimises energy efficiency through presence detector switching and daylight-linked dimming of lighting while operational efficiency is assured through graphical monitoring software which provides real-time feedback of the lighting installation including active monitoring of lighting and lamp operation.  The complete system operation, including sensor time-out periods and daylight-linking thresholds, is configurable through the graphical software and may be adjusted to suit the operational requirements of the user. 

The system enables tests of emergency lighting to be centrally initiated either at a scheduled time or manually from the head-end PC, router or configured keyswitch.  Despite the sophistication of the head-end controls, the system is not dependent upon the head-end PC, and distributed intelligence hardware ensure that local operations continue even in the event of non-operation of system outstations or the head-end PC.
