Control PRO – Launch of new generation of lighting sensor technology from Steinel

As a result of in-depth marketplace analysis conducted over the past few years, lighting sensor technology specialist Steinel is introducing Control PRO, a system of presence detectors that represents the next generation of technology.
Among the many differentiating features of Control PRO, the company says that the innovative square-shaped detection characteristics better match the traditional layout of rooms such as offices and conference areas compared with the round attributes deployed by conventional presence detectors.
The mechanically scalable square-shaped detection characteristics demonstrated by Control PRO’s infrared presence detectors represent the first innovation of this kind anywhere in the world.
While the Earth is round, rooms aren’t, and never before has it been possible to cover offices and commercial areas with presence detectors without overlaps or leaving gaps. The upshot is zones that can be planned perfectly thanks to reliable detection at every point of the room (Control PRO offers up to 4,800 switching zones). No longer is there any need for planners, electrical fitters or users to get frustrated over poor presence detection performance. Instead, everyone can look forward to maximum energy savings.
The Control PRO system uses both infrared and high frequency sensor technologies to suit ‘regular’ areas such as small offices and meeting rooms, as well as large, unusually shaped areas that may contain ‘obstructions’ such as open plan offices, large conference rooms and restrooms.
Control PRO presence detectors are available in all the most commonly demanded combinations (switching output, HVA output, 1-10V dimming output, KNX/EIB, DALI). Featuring additional functions and setting capabilities, they can be used in master/slave applications and benefit from a self-learning IQ mode which intelligently adjusts the delay off period in line with the real time occupancy rate, thereby maximising energy efficiency. They can also be operated by IR remote control. The system is ideal for both new projects and existing buildings as retrofitting to existing lighting is very simple and incurs minimum installation costs.
All Steinel sensors – including Control Pro – can be found in the Relux Design Package. This enables users to plan sensors into applications safe in the knowledge that all areas are covered, whilst using the minimum number of sensors.
Understated Design
In accordance with modern workspace trends, the design of the Control PRO family is understated. This range is intended for recessed ceiling installation and therefore extremely shallow. The units go perfectly with square as well as round ceiling elements and lights, while a range of accessories also permit surface mounting.
Comprehensive research
Steinel says the development of Control PRO followed a comprehensive review of the demands made on sensor technology today by listening attentively to users, planners, architects, consultants and electrical fitters. Ultimately, presence detectors must function in a manner that needs absolutely no thought on the part of either the user or installer.
