EDA annual dinner and awards

The EDA’s annual dinner, was held at the InterContinental Hotel in Park Lane, London on 10 March. Over 450 guests attended this prestigious event. It was an evening full of news, new faces and the EDA’s Learning & Development Achievement Awards.

The event gave an ideal opportunity for members to invite their manufacturer friends along and to offer recognition to those members of staff that have worked very hard in both areas of the Electrical Distributors Association (EDA) Product Knowledge and Vocational Training.

EDA achievement awards

Edmundson Electrical swept the board in the Product Knowledge Training category (delivered by our training partners MOL), gaining not only 1st, 2nd and 3rd place but also winning the EDA’s new ‘Outstanding Achievement Award! The second category for Vocational training recognised the achievements of staff from Lincs Electrical, Denmans and UK Cables for completing ‘Best NVQ’.

Photos of the EDA’s annual dinner and the EDA’s Learning & Development award winners are available to view on the EDA’s website - www.eda.org.uk

Martin Whitby of Rexel UK stepped down as President after 4 years in the role but will continue as a member of the board. Brian Smithers of WF Electrical was elected unanimously as the EDA’s new President & Chairman of the Board. Brian delivered an exceptional and passionate speech at the dinner. Dean Henry of Eldis Electrical Distributors was elected Vice President of the Board. Nigel Ellis has retired as EDA Director following 40 years in the industry. Following his retirement the EDA are delighted to announce that Ray Evans has been appointed the new Director of the EDA. EEIBA would like to give an enormous thank you to all those who attended and gave so generously on the evening, managing to raise over £4,000. Without continued support the charity would not be able to help those in the industry who are suffering hardship. And congratulations to Charles Bishop of Wirefield Ltd who won the EEIBA’s raffle for a 22in flat screen TV which was kindly donated by WF Electrical!
