Health centre is safely cabled

A new £8 million healthcare centre in North Wales has installed specialist Firetec fire performance cables from AEI Cables. The Connah's Quay Health Centre, has chosen AEI cables for its fire detection, alarm and lighting systems.

The 3,700 sq ft, three floor building, houses three established GP practices and replaces the existing Connah's Quay NHS clinic. As part of the project, new council offices and a pharmacy have also opened in a building adjacent to the centre. Alan Bradbury, Regional Sales Manager for AEI Cables, said: "It is essential to ensure continuity of performance of all fire detection systems in a building of this kind where fire rescue services rely on information from the system to ensure a safe evacuation in the event of a real fire."

The company says that Firetec cables were selected because of their proven quality and reliability. They carry full third party approvals by both the British Approvals Service for Electrical Cables and the Loss Prevention Certification Board. AEI Cables' Firetec range of fire performance cables includes Firetec Standard, Firetec Enhanced, Firetec single core and Firetec armoured. These are in addition to Mineral Insulated Cables (MIC), which are the ultimate fire performance cable. This diverse range meets every level of requirement and satisfies all British and international standards and legislation. Installation of the cable for Connah's Quay was by Solid State Security of Parbold, near Wigan, and distribution was managed by Edmundson Electrical Ltd, Wigan.
