IG INDEX CHOOSES shentongroup FOR POWER SUPPORT AT NEW LONDON HEADQUARTERS

When IG Index, the world’s leader in financial spread betting, relocated its headquarters to larger premises in London, it knew the importance of a reliable and secure power supply for business continuity. Looking for a company that had a reputation for quality and competitive solutions, IG Index chose a solution from shentongroup, a leading supplier of integrated power solutions.

Won on a competitive tender, and recommended by IG Index’s consultant, shentongroup and its subcontracts have provided the company with a complete turnkey solution including generators, installation work, commissioning and ongoing service and maintenance. .
IG Index is part of IG Group Holdings plc, a UK company listed on the London Stock Exchange, and a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. Originally founded in 1974, IG Index was the first financial spread betting company in Britain, and today is the leading spreads operation in the world. The group rapidly grew in the '90s with the introduction of Forex dealing Contracts for Differences (CFDs) and sports spread betting. IG Group companies have tens of thousands of clients worldwide making over 200,000 transactions a month, 85% of them online.
With such a large percentage of its business online, protecting the data centre, financial dealers, IT and customer services against power outages is essential for IG Index as any powercut would have a detrimental effect on the running of the company.  In order to trade, the company has to ensure that power quality is assured at all times and the computing systems able to work through the worst possible mains failure scenarios.
To ensure that there is no break in power, shentongroup engineers specified two Scorpion Sterling series 1250kVA generators housed in weatherproof, super-silent canopies and equipped with integral fuel tanks.  The generators are synchronised together to provide an N+1 configuration for greater resilience and controlled through a dual mutual control system and remote monitoring unit.
“We short listed three companies for the project but chose shentongroup as it has a reputation for quality and price”, says Prashant Bhojani, IT Procurement Manager at IG Index.  “The decision to choose shentongroup was also validated by an independent valuation of the three proposals.  We have been delighted with the service provided by shentongroup and the professionalism of their engineers”, he concluded.
