Highest thermal imaging resolution in its class

With the introduction of its new FLIR T600 Series, FLIR Systems has set a new specification benchmark for the commercial application of high calibre thermal imaging. The two cameras in this series are all about inspection efficiency and for quality versus price, they are unique.

Speedy operation, image quality and high measurement accuracy are essential for anyone involved in predictive maintenance. The FLIR T600 Series cameras have the sophistication needed to ensure a job well done and a quick return on investment. The FLIR T620 and T640 models are highly ergonomic and easy to use even when wearing personal protection equipment. Both are equipped with a state-of-the-art uncooled microbolometer detector that produces crisp, 640 x 480 pixel thermal images on which the smallest of details can be seen.  

This is particularly important for high voltage applications as clear images can be taken from greater distances.  Temperature differences of 0.04°C can be seen on the T640 and it can measure temperatures up to 2000°C; accuracy to within 2% or ±2°. Application flexibility is enhanced by a choice of lenses beyond the standard 25°. FLIR offers the best variety of exchangeable optics on the market and all are designed for purpose and made in the company’s own grinding laboratories. The high resolution thermal imaging that characterises these T-Series models is matched by high resolution visible light images.  Both models incorporate a 5 megapixel digital camera that generates sharp reference images. An LED lamp is provided for dark environments. A rotating optical block makes it very easy to capture images from challenging angles. It tilts up and down along its 120° range of motion whilst keeping the large, 4.3” LCD touch screen in view. This allows the operator to work in comfort and safety whilst looking at objects above, below and even around corners. FLIR wireless technology is extended in these new models.  Naturally both include FLIR’s proven MeterLink™ that allows data acquired by an Extech clamp meter to be transferred to the camera and embedded in the image.  This saves time and eliminates the risk of a notation error. The T640 and T620 also have a WiFi interface enabling images to be sent to a PC, iPad or iPhone. In this way, the thermographer can seek a swift, second opinion on a critical decision such as whether to shut down an operation. 

In addition to more measurement tools and manual or fast autofocus, the new cameras feature thermal and visual image overlay, thermal and visual image fusion for better analysis, a laser pointer, up to 8x digital zoom and text/voice/sketch annotations. Images are stored on an SD card in JPG format and the cameras also provide for MPEG4 video recording.
Both the FLIR T640 and T620 are supplied as standard with InstantReport that allows the generation of a professional PDF document in the camera without the need for a PC. This allows any thermographic survey to be completed on site. The cameras can also be specified with FLIR Reporter for more extensive reporting options.

FLIR Systems is the world leader in this technology and all of its expertise, in terms of camera/software design and applications know how, is invested in this guide. It’s far from being a sales medium for FLIR however. The publication provides a thorough grounding in industrial and building science infrared. The content takes the reader through the design of a thermal imaging camera, how it works and why the technology is so important in a world so highly focussed on thermal efficiency and minimising energy loss.
