Phoenix protects from the flames
One Hyde Park, one of the most prestigious office and retail developments in the world, has been recently completed and was the first major project to use the new Phoenix Fire Performance cleat.
The cleat was chosen to enhance the performance of the Emergency Fire rated cables that were installed throughout, ensuring that these cables would remain in situ and still perform in the event of a fire. Meeting the required criteria called for independent testing to BS8491:2008 (F120), where the cleats were subjected to an average temperature of 839°C for 120 minutes.
The distributor – ETS Cable Components – also assisted with the design of the product after seeing an opportunity through the increased use of fire performance cables in major new build developments.
The cleat is manufactured from marine grade 316 stainless steel, which was chosen primarily due to its high melting point, but also due to its high strength, abrasion and corrosion resistance.
