shentongroup Expands their standby power service with Magdalene Ltd

shentongroup, the specialist supplier of power generation and energy support systems, has extended its long term association with independent telecom services provider, Magdalene Ltd (Magdalene), by winning the contract to provide its Merlin Powercare 24 generator service.

Magdalene has already contracted with shentongroup for its Powercall service to provide secondary back-up power to Magdalene’s managed service business customers throughout the UK.

Now, following the signing of the Merlin Powercare 24 contract, shentongroup will also be providing a fully integrated nationwide maintenance, refuelling and onsite load bank testing service for the Scorpion 106kVA generators. These were supplied by shentongroup in 2002/3 and are used to support Magdalene’s managed service business fibre network and ancillary infrastructure.

The Merlin service includes the provision of ongoing generator maintenance at Magdalene’s managed service business sites throughout the UK as well as 24-7 cover for all generators including a four-hour response time for “red alert” calls. In addition the company will be using their latest programmable Load Bank to test each generator under various simulated load conditions to verify its overall performance and reliability to perform in an emergency power situation. The addition of a refuelling service underlines shentongroup’s ability to provide Magdalene with an end-to-end service.

Magdalene’s collaborative partnership with its managed service business customers encompasses full life support to telecom operators throughout the UK, covers all phases of the network lifecycle - from initial needs definition through to project implementation, acceptance and network operations (first and second line maintenance and network monitoring). The company’s total reliance on protecting their networks from power outages and surges means that a continuous, reliable, power source is especially critical and its dependence on standby power is a vital element in its customer service.
