Electric vehicle charging courses take off

Ploughcroft Training, based in West Yorkshire, has launched a new Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station installation course, which has had a great response from electricians.

Delegates on the Ploughcroft Electric Vehicle charging station installation course

The first one day course, held at its training centre in Brighouse, was attended by a number of electrical engineers looking to take advantage of this potentially lucrative new income stream, as the number of homes, public buildings and workplaces requiring electric vehicle charging stations is set to soar.

The company has many more EV courses booked to take place over the coming months to meet demand.

As Ploughcroft Training is the approved installation and training partner for Rolec Services, the course covered installation of Rolec Services’ WallPod EV charging units. All the delegates successfully completed the training session and will now become approved Ploughcroft EV installers, as part of extending its nationwide installer network.

Chris Hopkins, Managing Director of Ploughcroft Training, said: “There are tremendous opportunities for professional electricians who want to be able to expand their skills and reap the benefits of new business opportunities in this area. We have had a huge response to our new EV charging station installation courses, with many more scheduled for the coming weeks. We are building a network of approved installers, who will be fully certified and approved to carry out installations of Rolec’s WallPod EV charging unit. This is a potentially huge market for electrical engineers and will provide a new source of income for our installers across the country.”

Ploughcroft recognise the opportunity to upskill industry professionals in the installation of Electric Vehicle charging technology, as part of helping them to secure a lucrative new income stream. With an anticipated one million charging points required by domestic and commercial users over the next 12 months, there are huge opportunities for electrical engineers to fit the WallPod unit, which provides affordable electric vehicle home charging.
