Electrical connectors delivering high waterproof values and strong cable retention tend to depend on bulky outer casings and/or messy protective gels to achieve a totally weatherproof seal. They make installation time consuming and maintenance at best, difficult.
Hylec-APL have introduced two IP68 inline electrical connectors that use cable gland technology to achieve a totally water secure connection without the use of silicone gel and with an outer casing diameter of just 23mm, by designing the terminals as part of the external housing.
Both ends feature a dome topped cable gland and co-moulded sealing rings to facilitate the accommodation of a wide range of cable diameters and ensure the highest IP rating when assembly is complete.
Once inserted the wire can be quickly secured to the terminals, when ready to be plugged together the mating ends are key-way protected, only fitting together when properly aligned and automatically connect Earth pole first.
