NICEIC leads the way with solar PV installation (14 March 2012)
NICEIC has joined the renewable revolution with a solar panel installation at its headquarters in Houghton Regis. The firm had 39 solar panels installed at its premises by renewable specialist Puragen. The system will generate an estimated 7,690kW of electricity every year.

NICEIC contractor nominated for prize (22 February 2012)
A NICEIC registered contractor has been nominated for a prestigious Enterprise Award. Eleanor Bell (pictured) who runs her own sculpture and lighting design consultancy in Falmouth, Cornwall, has been shortlisted in the south west region of the Lloyds TSB National Enterprise Awards; an awards programme set-up to recognise the achievements of graduates who have started their own business.

Fees frozen for NICEIC registered contractors (01 February 2012)
It’s not just lakes and canals that’s frozen at the moment. In a move that will be welcomed by its 26,000 registered contractors, NICEIC has announced it is freezing all registration fees from April 2012 through to April 2013.

NICEIC and ECA launch 2021 vision (17 August 2011)
Emma McCarthy, CEO of the NICEIC and Steve Bratt, CEO of the ECA made the decision to jointly fund 2021 Vision as they felt it was important to provide long term guidance for the industry at a time when many contractors are recovering from the recession and concentrating on short term survival. 2021 Vision enables the electrical contractor to see past the short term and prepare for the next stage of their development.

NICEIC and ECA launch 2021 Vision (31 July 2011)
The NICEIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting) and the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA) have worked together to produce 2021 Vision: The Future of the Electrical Contracting Industry. This major piece of research is designed to provide a long term vision of the position the industry is likely to be in 10 years from now. It is also the first tangible results of talks to see how the two organisations can work together to provide unity and leadership.

NICEIC calls on government to listen over Part P (29 June 2011)
The NICEIC - UK’s largest registration body for the electrical contracting industry is asking government to listen to its registered contractors over proposed changes to Part P of the Building Regulations. Part P is currently under review by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), formerly known as the Office for the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) which launched the original legislation in 2005.

New research from NICEIC has revealed that homeowners are risking their lives by not getting their electrics fully checked, leaving potentially deadly faults lurking in thousands of homes. Apparently there are around 43,000 fires every year in UK homes, of which over 8,170 are caused by electrical faults and unsafe electrics.

Over 50 years ago Tony learnt his trade as an apprentice and subsequently worked for many years as a contractor and college lecturer before taking up his position at NICEIC.

NICEIC Insurance opens its doors to the industry (06 October 2009)
Finding the right insurance deal can be a real headache for contractors, no matter which sphere of the construction industry they operate in.
Savings, which were previously only available to businesses registered with NICEIC’s Domestic Installer or Approved Contractor Schemes, are now open to all trades, including builders, carpenters, heating and plumbing installers and gas engineers.

15,000th Approved Contractor (11 August 2008)
NICEIC has announced that its Roll of Approved Contractors has reached the landmark figure of 15,000 contracting enterprises. The NICEIC Approved Contractor scheme has been in operation since 1956 with the aim of protecting everyone who uses electricity from unsafe electrical installations in their homes, places of work and leisure.
