PRODUCT OF THE WEEK: Bosch GSR 10.8 V-LI-2
It is only half the size of a 12-volt standard drill/ driver and weighs only 1.1 kilograms, yet it nevertheless provides 100% power: the new GSR 10.8 V-LI-2 Professional Cordless Drill/ Driver from Bosch. Its 2-speed gearbox with 20+1 torque settings ensures optimum power transfer when screwdriving and drilling. In first gear, the tool drives screws with diameters of up to seven millimeters. In second gear, it drills holes up to 19 millimetres in diameter at optimum speed in softwood. The ten millimeter Auto-Lock drill chuck offers easy bit changes and provides a firm hold on the drill bit or screwdriver bit. The quick charging technology guarantees continuous working: it ensures gentle charging in only 30 minutes – the battery is charged to 75 percent of its capacity within only 15 minutes.
The tool is 30 percent lighter than standard drill/ drivers and also offers all the advantages of Bosch Drill/ Drivers: smooth pilot drilling is enabled by the variable speed switch. The new motor brake immediately brings the screwdriver to a standstill when the screwdriving process is finished – this is particularly advantageous when driving rows of screws. Large softgrip coverings in the grip area ensure particularly fatigue free working and a secure hold. An LED light provides bright light when working in dark areas.
The innovative Premium lithium-ion technology from Bosch with its excellent battery runtime and 400 percent longer lifetime generates its extended life thanks to the Electronic Cell Protection (ECP). It reliably protects the battery against overload, overheating and total discharge. Moreover, the battery pack is so robust that it can withstand being dropped from a height of two metres onto concrete and remain fully functional. Another advantage of the Premium lithium-ion technology is the unbeatable battery runtime provided by the Bosch high performance battery cells and the intelligent power management. The special cells with very low internal resistance and the high current capable design of the battery pack ensure low energy losses during charging and during operation. This results in extremely resilient battery packs with high performance capability. Moreover, the perfect coordination of the Bosch Hightech electronics with the motor and gearbox ensures high efficiency of the drive and optimum utilisation of the power in the cells.
Thanks to the “Hyper-Charge” technology for Bosch, the batteries are charged to 75 percent after only half of the charge time. There is also no memory effect and the batteries are fully ready for use, even if they have not been used for months.
