AirSense Technology Stratos-Nano

Aspirating smoke detection (ASD) specialist AirSense Technology has introduced a new product to its range of Stratos detectors designed to provide the benefits of aspirating technology for smaller, lower cost applications.

Stratos-Nano has been developed from AirSense’s 15 years of experience in ASD manufacturer. While it has been designed specifically to provide an entry level product, it retains many of the features of the other detectors within the Stratos range (Stratos-HSSD2, Stratos-Micra, Stratos-Quadra and Stratos-Ex) which are in use in many prestigious projects throughout the world. It also offers some key new additional features.

Importantly, it retains the Classifire® Perceptive Artificial Intelligence system that prevents unwanted alarms by dynamically adjusting the detector’s operating parameters, providing continuous, automatic configuration and monitoring of the system’s relative sensitivity level in the face of normal minor environmental smoke density fluctuations. For more extreme fluctuations from known events such as smoke generated by stage effects and industrial processes, the ClassiFire Override facility has been retained to eliminate predictable unwanted alarms. Also, those unwanted alarms which can arise from dust and dirt contamination are avoided through the patented Dual Technology LDD 3D3 Laser Dust Discrimination and elimination system, another feature which has been adopted from the Stratos Nano’s ‘bigger brothers’.

Stratos-Nano employs a forward scattering laser light source - a technology which has been proven to provide reliable early warning - in a laser smoke chamber specifically designed for aspirating detection and therefore not susceptible to the airflow problems associated with point-type sensors. A single detector can operate with up to 50 metres of air sampling pipe with 10 sampling holes.

Measuring only 190mm x 230mm x 110mm, the Stratos-Nano detector is housed in a new moulded polycarbonate enclosure which combines a modern aesthetic and discreet appearance with a lightweight yet rugged performance. A new primary LED indicator provides easy identification of the detector’s status (pre-alarm, fire, fault or OK) while a new secondary LED shows at a glance when the filter needs replacing. Firmware upgradeability ensures future proofing of the detector, with ease of installation afforded through a three point screw wall fixing, eliminating the need for a separate back plate or docking station.
