Three-phase transformerless UPS system
Uninterruptible Power Supplies Limited has announced the arrival of the PowerWAVE 8000DPA – the next generation of efficient power protection products and the latest addition to the company's highly acclaimed, 3-phase rack-format modular UPS range.
The PowerWAVE 8000DPA has been designed specifically for low to medium-high density critical applications and is available in two product options, the ST (Standard) and RI (Rack-independent). Both models use proven decentralised parallel architecture (DPA) to combine true modularity with class leading efficiency, maximum availability and flexibility.
The PowerWAVE 8000DPA is available from 10 to 120kVA and includes 'hot swappable' N+1 paralleling capacity for module redundancy. This enables efficient load matching and a 'pay as you grow' approach to rightsizing, as well as allowing for industry beating six nines (99.9999%) availability. When it comes to efficiency, the transformerless system is also in a class of its own, delivering 95.5% across a broad load range and supplying near unity power factor at partial and full loads.
The product's DPA technology, combined with its energy efficiency and scalable flexibility, ensures the PowerWAVE 8000DPA is able to offer the lowest cost of ownership in its class. DPA technology embraces the concept of removing single points of failure by connecting independent, self-reliant, 3-phase UPS modules to match critical load. Individual modules can then be added in cost effective, incremental steps as the load grows over time. This guarantees the UPS is not over sized, thus reducing initial capital expenditure and optimising long-term operating efficiency.
The introduction of two separate models provides maximum flexibility, with each model designed to offer the ideal solution for a wide range of applications.
The PowerWAVE 8000DPA ST (Standard) is available for high-density applications that require a standard power protection solution including frame, UPS, battery and communication. This solution delivers power protection from 10 kVA to 120 kVA (100 kVA N+1) in 10 kVA or 20 kVA modular steps to provide a maximum power density of 283 kW/m².
The RI (rack-independent) solution is ideal for those with a lower power protection requirement or those with no addition rack space available. The model includes UPS, battery and communication, which can be integrated into any 19" rack, independent of manufacturer and provides up to 40 kVA (20 kVA N+1) – making it ideal for integrated IT, Telecom or other similar applications.
