Lighting up a learning centre in a modular way
Modular Wiring Systems, a subsidiary of electrical cable manufacturer Tratos, has designed, manufactured and supplied modular lighting distribution and control systems for the new Suffolk One sixth form centre in East Anglia.
A £50 million project, Suffolk One is a state of the art learning centre for 16-19 year olds in South West Ipswich and South Suffolk. Due to open in September, facilities on site will include a performing arts centre, an indoor sports hall, an outdoor multi use games area, construction and motor vehicle zones and much more besides.Modular Wiring Systems was awarded the contract for the lighting distribution system at Suffolk One by M&E contractor Inviron as they had worked successfully together in previous contracts and because the tender came in at a good price.
The decision to go down the pre fabricated modular wiring route was made on the basis of speed and accuracy. Such a system reduces on-site wiring time as it is delivered to site ready made - all the installer need do is connect the system components together; this also reduces the possibility of connection errors.
For the Suffolk One installation, Modular Wiring Systems designed, manufactured and delivered the lighting distribution very quickly, to meet the tight schedule.
