Delivering power safely in the garden

MK Electric has enhanced its range of Ingress Protection products, led by Masterseal, with the introduction of the Splashguard range. Developed for light domestic use, such as gardening equipment and pond pumps, and giving the homeowner superb protection against shocks outdoors; Splashguard sockets and switches are IP55 rated.

IP55 means they offer complete protection against contact and, although dust ingress is not entirely prevented, it is not in sufficient quantity to interfere with most domestic equipment. They are also safe from water projected by a nozzle against the enclosure from any direction.

Available with clear lids only – for easy at-a-glance checking of status – Splashguard, in common with all MK Electric wiring devices, has terminal screws which are backed out and captive while the terminals and terminal markings face upwards to make installation easier.

For safety, there is the IEC 3mm minimum gap across the switch break and MK’s three-pin operated ‘child resistant shutter system’ which stops access to the electricity supply unless all three pins of a standard British 13A plug are in position. Splashguard products are also guaranteed for an industry-leading five years.
