Smart choice of new emergency LEDs from P4

P4, the UK’s leading specialist self-testing emergency lighting company, has designed and produced a new family of stylish emergency lighting LED luminaires. A major addition to its Design range of fittings, the aesthetically pleasing MonoLED, TriLED and QuadLED models achieve a smaller footprint and superior energy efficient performance for specific locations and for safer evacuation along escape routes and open areas.

Smart choice of new emergency LEDs from P4

The company’s goal was to replace the ubiquitous 8w bulkhead- historically effective but obtrusive and out of place in many modern installations – with a competitively priced LED luminaire. The result is an innovative range of emergency luminaires that will appeal to lighting and interior designers for any new or refurbished installation.

Emergency lighting on escape routes, must meet a prescribed minimum level of illuminance (1 Lux) along the route centre line, and achieve a maximum diversity ratio of no more than 40 to 1.Conventional single LED luminaires often provide low power consumption and a long lamp life, but typically only emit a small pool of light.

Single LEDs might produce sufficient illuminance to satisfy the 1 Lux minimum, but they need to be installed relatively close together to achieve the required uniformity of the installation along the route. TriLED is designed with 3 precisely controlled LED beams from each luminaire to achieve the same 1 Lux result along escape routes in a more economic and effective manner, whilst benefiting also from the greater integrity of the 3 sources of light in each luminaire.

For open areas P4 has developed the QuadLED version with 4 wide spread LED beams for optimum light distribution and excellent uniformity throughout areas where there is no defined escape route. The unobtrusive nature of the TriLEDs and QuadLEDs mean that it may be preferable to install them alongside mains lighting to provide purpose designed emergency lighting rather than use emergency conversions of mains luminaires.

MonoLED is available for the illumination of specific locations such as fire and first aid points in accordance with BS5266 Part 10 recommendations, which can be identified with optional coloured covers.

Integrated heat sinks and intelligent driver circuits contribute to the minimum LED life of 50,000 hours and since minimal input power is required for battery charging, significant energy savings over equivalent fluorescent luminaires and conversions are achieved.  The nickel cadmium batteries fitted are covered by a 6-year warranty, unique to P4 products.

Recessed or surface mounted versions of the MonoLED, TriLED and QuadLED products are available and users may operate the product in non-maintained or maintained mode. All models incorporate P4’s acclaimed FASTEL fully automatic self testing technology. Remote monitoring and testing of all models to an internet connected PC is available through P4’s FASTELink systems.
