The Cornwall College sites at Camborne, St Austell and Saltash have been selected to receive the 50kWp systems. The sites are expected to consume all the generated electricity on site, dramatically reducing utility costs.

The solar installations will complement Cornwall Council’s training course for solar PV installations. To help the college to run its solar PV training programme, R-ECO will donate three demountable systems to the college.

R-ECO Technical Director, Abraham Cambridge, stated: "Seeing as 2012 is the International Year of Co-operatives, we are delighted that Cornwall College saw the benefits in using a co-op installation company for this project. Several of our electricians were trained in the buildings we are to install on, quite befitting to the self-sustaining nature of renewable energy projects!"

Cornwall College is determined to be a major driving force in the development of the Cornish renewable energy industry. Cornwall College believes that the installation of solar PV marks a large step forward in realising that ambition.
