Movement on Feed-in Tariffs is welcome, says SummitSkills (25 January 2012)
SummitSkills has welcomed movement from the Government on Feed-in Tariffs, with the announcement from DECC about its future plans. Last Thursday (19 January), Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker (pictured) announced that the Government has laid before Parliament draft licence modifications which provide for a reduced FiTs rate of 21p/kW from 1 April 2012 for eligible new PV installations on or after 3 March 2012.

Training discounts available for employers (07 December 2011)
Discounts on more than 1,800 training opportunities are available to employers courtesy of SummitSkills and the Joint Investment Programme. Employers and training providers can receive up to £171 worth of discounts on their training costs, providing access to new skills to meet industry-specific competence requirements.

UK electrical industry moves to safer, better practices (06 July 2011)
The industry bodies represented on the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) Management Committee have agreed the requirements for new Qualified Supervisors that will be introduced in January 2012. From 1st January 2012, for the first time, a level of technical competence equivalent to level 3 NVQ competences is to be the minimum requirement for all new applications for Qualified Supervisors.

SummitSkills takes employers’ views to the heart of Government microgeneration strategy (29 June 2011)
The views of employers in the building services engineering sector will help to shape the future of environmental technologies, after SummitSkills played a key role in the Department for the Environment and Climate Change’s newly-launched Microgeneration Strategy for England. SummitSkills was part of a steering group which worked with DECC to produce the action plan that will guide the work of Government and industry, as the UK strives to meet its challenging targets for carbon emissions.
